New display element: Avatars
Posted by Jennifer Stein on October 17, 2011
Considering that a results set on FPinfomart represents text-based documents, it’s not surprising that a list of “Peeks” can appear quite text-heavy. Scanning quickly through a list of results isn’t always easy – or quick, for that matter.
We hope that our most recent display element, “Avatars,” will make a visual scan of a results set more attractive and efficient.
Starting today, you’ll notice an icon, or “Avatar” to the left of most results. This avatar will be the logo for the publication, content aggregator, or in some cases (where available and appropriate) the person who created or collected the content.
While we feel that this new feature offers a great visual way to analyze and browse a results set, we realize that some of you may prefer a text-only results display. Because of this, we offer you the ability to turn the Avatars feature off (or back on!) in your Display Settings.
Choose Display from the Settings menu at the bottom left of any FPinfomart screen, to turn the Avatar display off.
