New Addition to FP Advisor – The Fixed Income Database

Posted by Yvonne Yip on November 2, 2010

It’s been awhile since we’ve had the opportunity to add a whole new data set and interface to our FP Advisor module, so we’re especially excited to announce the introduction of the Fixed Income database.

Formerly available only in print format,  Fixed Income will allow you to find both Preferred Shares and Corporate Debt belonging to Canadian companies. Data items include amounts outstanding, coupon and yield, detailed descriptions of features, maturity dates and more. You can search by specific company or filter the database using the searchable fields as parameters.

Includes ratings supplied by Dominion Bond Rating Service (DBRS).

To search on a Preferred Share security click on to our Main Search screen under Fixed Income.

Here is a sample of a Preferred Share with DBRS Rating and features.

We also have the ability to search by Issuer. In the following example a Debt Security is selected to find through symbol, “BNS.”

This search retrieves 41 results for The Bank of Nova Scotia.

Here is a sample of a Corporate Bond with DBRS Rating and features.

Whether looking for a corporate debt security or a preferred share you can screen their features and export your findings into Excel. All data is updated on a daily basis.

More Directors and Executives now searchable in Directory of Directors

Posted by Jennifer Stein on October 7, 2010

In addition to the detailed records we gather in the Directory of Directors product, our FP Datagroup collects additional information about people affiliated with Canadian companies through our Corporate Surveys. These two populations are now searchable from a single interface, the Directory of Directors search. As well, names of Directors listed in Corporate Surveys records will be hyperlinked to a Directory of Directors search for further information about each individual (for example, which other boards of directors or companies that person is affilated with).

This change increases the population searchable via Directory of Directors from its former count of 17,000 individuals to a new total of 29,395 individuals.

Spotlight on: Financial Post Crosbie: Mergers and Acquisitions in Canada

Posted by fpinfomart on March 12, 2010

FP Crosbie Since Canwest’s acquisition of Crosbie’s “Mergers & Acquisitions in Canada” in April of 2005, our FP DataGroup has worked diligently to collect detailed information on the Canadian mergers & acquisitions market.  This data makes up our online product, the Financial Post Crosbie Mergers & Acquisitions database within FP Advisor, which continues to be known as the database of record for the Canadian mergers & acquisitions market.  This database is updated on an ongoing basis.

It is also important to note that Crosbie continues to produce a quarterly report on Canadian M&A activity based on data compiled from the database.

Every quarter, for the past five years, FP DataGroup sends raw data to the Crosbie team and together the “Canadian M&A Activity for [#] Quarter [YEAR] Report” is created. This creation informs many industry professionals of what is happening in the profitable world of Mergers and Acquisitions on a quarterly basis. This free report can be found on Crosbie’s website.  The Q4, 2009 report will be reaching the Crosbie site in the next couple of days.  At the same site, you’ll also find an archive of these quarterly reports, going back to 2003.

Thanks to our FP Advisor product specialist, Yvonne Yip, for compiling this information!

Canadian Who’s Who now available on FPinfomart

Posted by Jennifer Stein on January 18, 2010

The latest addition to our FP Advisor suite of content is the the well-known directory “Canadian Who’s Who.”

The Canadian Who’s Who database contains biographical sketches on over 13,000 Canadians.  You’ll find precise information on distinctions, degrees, names of kinship, occupations and professional history for these individuals.

You can search Canadian Who’s Who in four places:

  1. Listed as its own source under “Additional Databases”
  2. As a source in our Lead List Generator
  3. Find results in “Person Search”
  4. Find results in “Global Search.
FP Advisor Menu

Areas where Canadian Who's Who can be searched

For the most robust search interface, click “Additional Databases” from the FP Advisor menu, then choose the link to the Canadian Who’s Who database.

There are two possible ways to use the Canadian Who’s Who:

  1. You are researching a particular individual who’s name you already know.
  2. You are looking to create a list of individuals who meet a set of specific criteria.

If you’re seeking information on a specific person, enter as much information about him or her as you know.

Once you’ve clicked “Search,” a list of results will appear.  You can click the name of the individual if you believe you’ve found your research target.

If your goal is to create a list of individuals who meet a certain set of criteria, you can use the same search form but do not enter a person’s name (unless of course you’re trying to create a list of individuals with the same first or last name!).  Your result set will meet the criteria you set out.

In this second scenario, where you’re creating a list of results, you may also wish to try searching this database in our Lead List Generator tool.  You’ll get the same set of results, but using Lead List Generator will allow you to export your results to Excel.
